Fair & balanced & racist

Once and for all, this is why FOX News is a racist piece of shit network:

Michael Calderone, for Politico.com, writes:
Since Salon's Alex Koppelman caught Fox News characterizing Michelle Obama as "Obama's Baby Mama," there's been an uproar over use of such an offensive term.

“A producer on the program exercised poor judgment in using this chyron during the segment,” Fox's Senior Vice President of Programming Bill Shine said in a statement to Politico.

In addition to being insulting, the phrase "baby mama" is also inaccurate. The Urban Dictionary defines "baby mama" as"the mother of your child(ren), whom you did not marry and with whom you are not currently involved."

Although Shine doesn't name anyone responsible, the show's producer is Jessica Herzberg. A Fox staffer said that others internally were bothered by describing the potential first lady and very accomplished women — as the senator's "baby mama."

Unfortunately for the network, this comes just days after Fox's E.D. Hill addressed her use of the phrase "terrorist fist jab" on-air in reference to the famous Michelle-Barack fist bump (or pound) made just before his celebratory speech in St. Paul.
That is all.

Wow, that's horrible.

At least they didn't call her "Aunt Jemima". But I'm sure it's coming.

The fact that Fox News exists-- and is popular-- really makes me wonder about this country and the direction we're headed.

I think people can be way too cavalier in their use of the word fascist, however, I do think that Fox news intentionally taps into the most primitive side of our nature... and that primitive side is the wellspring of fascist longings.

On a totally unrelated note: A while ago I saw you giving a pitch to Blender mag for an article on Antartica. I'm curious to know if anything ever came of that-- it seemed like a great idea for a piece.

Who are you, "Anonymous"? I did write the Blender piece -- it can be found here.

Hi my name's Rob. I couldn't remember my Blogger name/password, hence anonymous. This is not unusual for me. My memory seems to be deteriorating at an alarming rate. I do write the passwords down, but then I forget where I put the paper. So it goes.

Anyway, I was just curious. Nothing sinister or mysterious. I'm a writer myself, so I like to keep track of other writers who seem to have something going with their prose.

I'm gonna go check out that Blender article now. Thanks.

I just had to chuckle to myself. How odd to think that by telling someone your name you somehow are less anonymous. "Oh it's ROB!" Why not just give someone a number: I am 63J218$.

But what a great question YOU asked! Who ARE you? If I knew that I wouldn't bother writing.
